Dimmable Smart Lamp by WiiJoo Review #228

private Investigator tips

I have always been a late adopter of new technology.  I always wait awhile after something comes out to see if it is any good. Usually, there are some hiccups with new technology so by waiting a little longer than everyone else any hiccups are usually fixed by the time I decide to buy it.  With that being said I am a little late to the smart technology for the home party. In fact, if it wasn’t for the WiiJoo company reaching out to me to review their dimmable smart lamp I probably wouldn’t have even considered testing smart devices for my home/office.  So in anticipation of reviewing their dimmable smart lamp I purchased an Alexa Dot and had so much fun with it I upgraded within a few days to an Alexa Show (reviews to come).

So in this review, I am basically going to tell you what this dimmable smart lamp is capable of (it can do quite a bit considering it is just a smart lamp) and what I like and dislike about.

Unboxing the Dimmable Smart Lamp

There isn’t a whole lot in the box. When you open it you will find the circular lamp, the directions and the charging cable/power adapter.

The lamp itself is circular with a flat bottom. It is made of plastic and is incredibly light.

After I unboxed it I immediately plugged it, read the easy to follow instructions and connected the lamp to Alexa through my Alexa Show

Dimmable Smart Lamp Features

It’s a smart light but how many features could there be?  Well before testing it I thought the dimmable smart lamp by WiiJoo was only going to have a few abilities overall.  I pretty much thought I was going to have the ability to turn it on and off with my voice through Alexa.  What I found is it can do that, but has more to offer as well.

Here are some more features of this dimmable smart lamp:

You can change it to any color you want

That’s right, you can change it to any color you want.  It can be red, blue, yellow, green and all the colors in between by using the app. Make some mood lighting by making it red or blue or keep it white and use it as a reading light.

Control the light with the app

I kind of mentioned the app already but yes, you can control the lighting brightness and colors through the app. You can even set an alarm for your lamp. You can turn it off at a certain time at night and then back on in the morning to help you wake up. Do whatever works for you.

Smart Light App

Control the dimmable smart lamp with Alexa

This is where we get into the smart home stuff I was talking to you about earlier.  I am in my office as I am writing this saying things like, “Alexa, turn on the ball light (because that is what I named the device. You can name it whatever you want).”  Or I say, “Alexa, make the ball light blue” and then it magically changes to blue. I can also say, “Alexa, turn on the ball light” or Alexa turn off the ball light” or “Alexa, dim the ball light”.  Each time I gave it a command it did it without any issues.

Control the dimmable smart lamp with Alexa remotely

I love this feature for when you want to make it look like your home when your not home. When you download the Alexa app to your phone you can tell Alexa thought your phone to turn on the dimmable smart lamp and the lamp will turn on.  You can tell it to change colors, dim or get brighter all through the Alexa app just as if you were at home. I love this feature!

Control the lamp without any apps or Alexa

What if you don’t have your phone on you or maybe you don’t have Alexa or Google Home yet? No problem, you can still control the lamp.

The lamp turns on and changes color just by tapping the lamp with your hand.  You can scroll through the different standard colors with each tap of the lamp.

It’s a portable light

You don’t need to have this plugged into a power source for it to work.  Yeah, that is right, once it is charged you can disconnect it from a power source and it will continue to work for 5 hours continuously according to the company.

What does that mean?  It means you can take it with you anywhere like the backyard, front yard, camping, in your car, and on your boat and you will still have a light source for 5 hours no matter where you are.

Final Thoughts on this light

This dimmable smart lamp was my first introduction to what smart devices are capable of.  With that being said, it delivered on every promise that I tested.

I am sure you will be able to find various uses for this light as a private investigator or for personal use, however, I think this is ideal for an outdoor light when having a get-together, a camping light or even a reading light.  And if you get real fancy with this light you can turn it on and off when you aren’t home to make it look as though you are home. You can also use the scheduling feature with the app to schedule when it should turn on and off.

Night Stand Smart light

As much as I like being able to use Alexa with this device I think my favorite function is that it is portable and can be powered off the internal battery for up to 5 hours.  I think you will like that feature as well.
