Aging a Face Based on a Single Photograph

Researchers at the University of Washington have developed a new technique for digitally aging a face over 80 years. They call it, “Illumination – Aware Age Progression”. Using just one photograph the method provides a series of age-progressed outputs (years 1 through 80). The technique accounts for pose, expression, and illumination.  Imagine the possibilities when finding missing children or people of interest that have been missing for decades.  age progression Original Article

Google Lets You Go Back in Time With Street View

Google has added historical street viewing to some mapped locations on street view. This will allow you to go to certain locations and see them as they once were dating back to 2007. Google states on their blog that you can see the Freedom Tower in New York grow from the ground up, or see the reconstruction after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I tested it out and couldn’t get it to work. They weren’t specific but it seems at the moment you can only go to specific locations on street view to see a time line. I tried a few locations I was familiar with and it did not allow the historical time line to come up. I would like to see this executed on all streets that have been mapped. I use Google maps and street view frequently when preparing my surveillance cases. Sometimes the street view maps gives me information that ends up being helpful on difficult cases. A historical map would be even more beneficial to a private investigator and might even provide valuable clues on an investigation. Google time line Google

Nissan Smart Rear-view Mirror

Why didn’t anyone else think of this? Nissan put a camera in the back of the vehicle that shows what is happening in the back of the car through the rear view mirror. Suppose you have a lot of passengers blocking your rear view mirror or you have balloons in the back seat. You can turn on the camera and it will switch from a mirror to a screen to view what is behind the vehicle just like a rear view mirror.  Rear Mirror Popular Science

Two JVC Cameras Eliminate the Need for Software to Have a Time Stamp on Your Video

According to sources there are two JVC cameras on the market that have the capability of recording with time shots embedded in the video. I have not tested this yet but I heard of something similar about a year ago but was never able to test it. The two cameras are the JVC HD Everio GZ-E306BU Camcorder which is on Amazon for 149.99 and the JVC GZ-E200BUS1080p HD Everio Digital Video Camera which is listed at 139.00. Apparently there is a mode used to make this happen. Again I have not tested this yet but hope to soon.  Below are the Amazon links for the video cameras.
