#28: Focusing this Private Investigator Blog

In the late part of 2010 I was put in a position that forced me begin my own private investigation business which was far beyond my comfort zone. In October of 2011 I started a blog because I thought I could help other private investigators or other soon to be private investigators. My original blog was eventually transferred to where it is now at the Private Investigator Advice blog website in December of 2011.

I have written articles that focus on a variety of topics and more recently I have placed emphasis on the surveillance part of being a private investigator. This information is great for those in the field, however as the blog has grown more individuals have reached out with questions. What I have found is that many readers are either private investigation agency owners or individuals looking to break into the industry. Because this seems to be where my blog has struck a chord, I would like to write more on those topics.

Going forward I would like to open up even more to the readers as to what I am doing within my own business. As I write this blog article, this is the first week where I have not worked for four consecutive days. This also is the first time in a long time where I did not have work scheduled three weeks in advance. I believe that the reason for this lull in work is I have neglected marketing efforts, I have neglected my website and I have neglected SEO efforts to keep my business listed on the first page of Google’s results for my selected keywords. Not all companies need to focus on these things however due to my specializations this is the way that is most efficient for me to market my business.

In order to show you how important being on the first page of Google is, I am going to let you in on my process of how I remake my website, why I am doing what I am doing, how I plan to get back on the first page of Google and how that affects my business. After I get back on the first page of Google I will share the process of how new business owners can build their own websites for next to nothing. I am not certain how long this website journey be, but I believe it will be quite a journey.
Some of the stuff I will share is:

  • How my website has evolved
  • How my website has ranked in 2012
  • Why I am changing the look of my website
  • What you should look for in a website
  • How my website ranks from month to month
  • How my rankings affect business
  • What should be in your website
  • And more…

I still will be writing on a variety of things other than the aforementioned topics but I want anyone to be able to come to this blog and be able to become a better investigator, find out if this career is right for them or have some resources on the basics of a new private investigation business.

Stay tuned for the next blog entry as it will be coming soon.
